I am starting this page now so I can post during the trip. It will be mostly pictures, but those are worth a thousand words. I hope you enjoy going to Italy with me. Please comment and give tips. I will be checking the blog regularly and will be excited to see what you have to say.
I have been preparing for the trip and decided to make this little contraption. Thieves are horrible in Europe. They do what is called “wanding” and they use this devise to walk by you and scan your purse. They are able to get your credit card information. There are specific purses and wallets made to prevent this. I did some research (because I make purses) and found aluminum foil will prevent this. I hope it works. It was easy (and extremely cheap).

I made it like a pocket and slid it inside the wallet. This worked for most of the trip. It was a great trial run, now I know how to perfect it.
Several of my friends are going to Italy soon. I thought it would be a great time to share my Italian pictures. My mom, sister and I went on an 11 day trip to Italy. We saw 7 cities in 11 days. This was a wonderful experience. The pictures are in order of the trip.

Our first day in Rome and we were in search of the Spanish Steps. This is my first view of St. Peter’s Basilica.

Trevi Fountain, Rome Italy. We threw our Euro in the fountain to make our wish. It worked! We had a safe and fabulous trip.

The Pantheon, was a building dedicated to all the gods. Later it was given to the church and converted to a Christian church.

Coliseum, Rome this building is amazing. It is interesting they used to take from other buildings that had fallen and recycle them to buildings that are still standing today.

Top of St. Peter’s Basilica. Actually this is half way up the dome. I love the different view of these ancient statutes, they are situated on the front of the basilica. Its a view you usually do not see.

Statue at the Vatican. This statue is missing a few hands, some items broke off over the years and sometimes they were cut off. If you could not cover up some of the naked bodies, they removed the penises. This makes me wonder if there is a basement somewhere with hands, fingers and penises. They are constantly trying to restore these works of art. I cant imagine my job being trying different stone penises on till they found the matching one.

After the Pope came out and said the prayer, the crowd released the thousands of balloons. This was so beautiful at dusk, surrounded by thousands of people. People were singing in Italian and in English too. We were fortunate to be there that day.

We got to see the Pope for the “Celebration of the Family”, I was with my family too. This was very pleasant surprise.

Vecchio bridge is the colorful bridge. No cars go over this bridge. There is very nice jewelry shops on the bridge.

This is the first Statue of Liberty. It was created by a Italian artist and given to the French. The French gave it to the United States.

My sisters and I at Doge’s Palace, Venice. I love this picture! Just wish my mom was in it. It does go in birth order too.
The end.
I hope you enjoy.
