California Vacations

Mammoth Lakes, California

A few weeks ago My family and I took a vacation to Mammoth Lakes,Ca. My son is working up there, and I wanted to go visit him. I felt Mammoth Lakes would be a great place to show our newest family member, our exchange student from Spain. She loved it!

We did a vacation rental by owner. This was a nice condo, with a king bed, queen bed, double bed and twin. It had a full kitchen and 3 full bathrooms. It was perfect for us. Very affordable. We went to the grocery store and bought all of our food. We were going to make all of our breakfast and dinners, then pack sandwiches for lunch. For $60 we fed all four us, plus my son and his friend for the weekend. We only ate out once when we there. We ate at Roberto’s. This restaurant had huge burritos (which we split 2 burritos 5 ways) and very delicious flour tortilla chips. It was happy hour, we got the afternoon special. We all really enjoyed Roberto’s and would recommend to everybody. Even the water was delicious.

We rented a paddle board from an in town sporting goods store called Footloose Sports. Before we went out I called the 2 places. The one in town was $35 for 4 hours or all day for $50. The staff was friendly and helpful. They do not charge you until you get back. I ended up making it back in 4 hours so I just had to pay the $35. This was a lot of fun, we were very glad we experienced paddle boarding.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One of the nights it was the full “super” moon. It was supposed to be closer and bigger. It was beautiful. We hiked up this little hill behind the condo to get pictures.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The other time we spent viewing a few of the many lakes at Mammoth Lakes. There was breath taking views. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Everybody enjoyed the trip, especially my niece (visiting from the East Coast) and our exchange student from Spain. She said it was a wonderful experience, very beautiful, and she would love to go back for another visit.

This was an inexpensive vacation. There are many camping sites (which would be even more frugal) available. Many things to do, biking, fishing, hiking, swimming, paddle boarding etc. Never a dull moment. I hope you get the opportunity to visit Mammoth Lakes.
